Costume Research
The Libertines
 THE LIBERTINESThe clothing that The Libertines wear here is much more of a relaxed style, which is a good style than fans can follow and recreate themselves. The clothing that they wear here is very basic yet they still manage for it to look edgy with the way they hold themselves when the image has been taken, this is something we should remember when taking pictures of the band. As mentioned before the look they have created is edgy as the band member on the far left hand side is wearing a police mans hat. |  THE LIBERTINES-NME COVERAs you can see the band are all wearing the same outfit as this image has been taken from the music magazine NME. The band are all dressed in the same colour which is red, this colour represents passion. Passion could symbolise their passion for music and this colour also stands out really well on the page against the dark background. |  THE LIBERTINESThe band are a rock band that was formed in London in 1997, the band have an edgy look which you would associate to a band in this area of music. Their outfits that they are wearing match each other therefore you can see that they are in a band together. As you can see some of the members in the band are wearing shirts, which is dressy but have made this edgy as they have got their shirts open and accessorized with necklaces too. |

Little Mix
 LITTLE MIXLittle Mix have a very large youthful fan base therefore the clothing that they opt to wear creates huge effect as they are seen as role models to their audience (generally young girls). As you can see the girls all have their own individual style, making the group unique. We feel a band having their own individual style allows them to stand out and makes them more relatable as in todays society we all have different fashion ideas and this shows us its okay to be different. |  LITTLE MIX- ON STAGEThis image is taken from the girls on stage, performing. As you can see they all wear the same outfit which shows that they are a group. We like he outfits that they are wearing here as they are more mature and show a different side to the girls, than what we usually see. As the outfit is black it doesn't draw our attention away from their singing which we liked. |  LITTLE MIXLittle Mix here wear playsuits but al wear them differently according to their own style. This highlights that they can all wear the sae item of clothing but in a different way which we like. |

Solo Artists
Beyonce
These images above of Beyonce illistrate her eccentric yet sophisticated options of dress on her tours and music videos etc. The outfits that she wears relate to the context of the songs she performes and what the message is. When wearing the colouful outfits the songs are usually more lively. When deciding who to research for this section we realised that the costumes of women are more revealing in comparrison to the male dress. This relates to how women are projected in the media, either in a positive way or negative.
Sam Smith
Here are images of Sam Smith the solo artist and his dress. As you can suddenly see there is a contrast between the two (one being Beyonce and Sam Smith). Sam wears suits and dresses very classy and well kept on a daily basis from walking in the street to music events. We like the way Sam Smith dresses as he keeps care of his apperance which is a great thing also he dresses his outfits down with trainners; which is a main style at the moment. When looking at these imgaes of Sam Smith you can see that his style would be easy to imatate for his fans.
We decided that due to our band being 'indie' and into rock, their costumes have to match their persona therefore we made a costume list for each band memeber so then we get the right vibe.
It wasn't too different to what they wear normally because its their type of fashion.
Why was it important for us to do this costume research?
The Verve's outfit choices demonstrates that they are a rock band. This is through the dark colours which they use, as all four band members are wearing black. Also the black leather jacket which is seen on Richard Ashcroft is also a representation of the 'rock' image. It also suggests the time period which 'The Verve' were made. All four members have the same style, i think that this is important as it tells 'fans' and the audience that the band have things in common and it also shows that they all have the same thing in mind in terms of music and style.
The hat which Simon Jones is wearing also shows his individuality and the cream/beige colour of the hat contrasts with the dark colours in their outfit.
Overall the image which they represent is defiantly the 'rock' look.
It was important for us to research different outfits choices and relate it to the bands we have chosen to use. For example the type of music a band is. is highly represented in the choice of outfits. For example the Verve and The Commoners both have a unique style which also represents the rocky/indie style of music. We also used this research in order for us to see what type of colours we wanted and what style we would like to see our chosen bands to wear.
