Music Room

Music Room

The equipment used (microphones, pianos, guitars, microphones and speakers etc) are the mise en scene that we want in our documentary. As it is a music documentary, we think that these props are essential.

Music Room

Music Room

There are high tech technologies in this room which highlights a level of sophistication and succession.

Band Practise Room

Band Practise Room

We liked the simple mise en scene in this room and the blandish colours, highlighting that the music is the most important thing in the shot. Our band is not materialistic and is solely focused on the music they create as they are an indie band and this is the conventions associated with bands such as this.

Band Practise Room

In this image we liked the use of posters and equipment. It also looks quite scruffy and dark, this would compliment the persona of the band. If we can, we would like to also get alcoholic beverages in the mise en scene as it would help create that rocky vibe.

Band Practise Room

Band Practise Room

We liked how the mise en scene is quite simple and the room looks quite small signifying this idea that this band in particular aren't successful enough to purchase large rooms. As our band is relatively unsuccessful in the music industry we wanted to use a small room and simple but effective equipment.

Radio Station

Radio Station

This is a radio studio we found on google images however this setting seems to high tech. Because they are an indie rock band, their vibe and persona is very similar and not high tech therefore we would not have as much technology. Also we will not have as much technology because this highlights succession and the band haven't quite experienced that yet.

Radio Studio

Radio Studio

This is the studio for BBC Introducing, we wanted to use similar mise en scene as it is very important to signify that this band is upcoming and is trying to get a break in the industry. They have computers, radio equipment, microphones and keyboards. This is what we need.

Radio Studio

Radio Studio

This is the studio for BBC Radio 1; they do business with upcoming bands. We wanted to create an atmosphere and similar that would be very similar to this. They have computers, radio equipment, microphones and keyboards. This is what we need.

Record Label Office

Record Label Office

We thought that the use of mise en scene in this was quite significant as the repetition of records framed on the wall suggests that this particular record label has experienced multiple success. This conforms to the Bourgeois ideology. Also we think it is important to point out the use of cinematography (the wide long shot, with the 'expert' in the middle of the shot) this makes him the most important part of the shot, he made all this success around him, happen.

We think that the use of vinyls is quite significant as at this point in time, vinyls are becoming more in fashion and are closely associated with this 'indie subgroup'. This therefore conforms to Hebdige's theory of Youth Subcultures and Style, which we want to achieve in our documentary as the band we plan to interview originates from an indie genre of music.

Gig Venue

Gig Venue

We really liked the Cavern as a venue because its intimate and exclusive. It has a rocky atmosphere and vibe.We like the idea of a pub because its relaxed and chilled. Also they seem quite old fashioned, they have not been recently refurbished and that may be due to the lack of finance available to do so. These types of gig venues are often played at by unrecognised indie rock bands mainly from the north. This will help us present a working class band conforming to Trotskyism ideology;...

Interview Set Up

Interview Set Up

We liked this idea of a set up for the interview as it is well lit and looks sophisticated and professional. The colours reflect the atmosphere.

Interview Studio

Interview Studio

We didn't want a green screen however we liked the idea of a clear, continuous background.
